COVID-19 Policy & Procedures

Updated: Dec 19, 2021

To Our Valued Clients & Friends: I pray that you and your family are staying safe during this COVID-19 crisis and I look forward to the day when we will be return to normality.

As you know, Coronavirus arrived early and soon became fatal on the North Fork and the areas that Suffolk Security Systems serves. With that in mind, I wanted to take a moment to inform you about the company’s actions and how we are operating in this changed environment.

First, our Central Station will continue to monitor your alarm system. Our monitoring center is fully online with load-balancing call centers in New Jersey and Houston. For the last week, 85% of our call center operators are working safely from home on secure data and telephone networks meeting all compliance requirements to maintain the integrity of operations.

Secondly, 50% of our Southold office staff are securely working from home, also with secure telephone and data networks to handle all your questions and calls.

Next, NYS Executive Order 202.6 and the NYS Department of Economic Development defines our operations as “Essential Business” with some reasonable limitations. In short, we are available for any emergency service to support the safety and essential operations of your home or business. That means we will continue to service your existing monitored smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, your security system and your home or business data network.

We have supplied our technicians with gloves, masks, wipes and cleaning products to reduce the risk and spread of Coronavirus. We will not enter your home or business without your authorization or a pre-scheduled appointment. If you are sick or quarantined, we will not enter, and you must inform us. Together, we will make a joint decision on how to help you. We may remotely access your system for diagnostics and then we will suggest a plan of action.

If we are currently working on a new installation for you, we may temporarily cease that work so please contact us to discuss the options. The Executive Order allows us to finish work that will prevent a system from remaining unsafe and then the contractor must shut down the work site.

Lastly, a personal request. While Suffolk Security Systems is in the life safety business we are not on the front lines of this dangerous pandemic. Our community nurses, doctors and EMT’s are saving lives while risking their own. The Eastern Long Island Hospital Foundation has created a COVID-19 Action Fund to buy additional supplies and support the medical staff at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital. As chairman of the ELIH Foundation, I merely ask that if it is within your means, please consider a donation with this link: https://elih.stonybrookmedicine.edu/Coronavirus/ActionFund/Donate

Yours in Health and Safety, Paul J. Romanelli President
