We all know that the day before Thanksgiving, is the most traveled day of the year. So be careful driving, flying and remain calm and patient during your travels.
But did you know that Thanksgiving is the one day of the year where there are nearly four times as many cooking fires than any other day of the year? Distractions abound on this day and it's easy to understand how cooking fires can occur on your stovetop and oven.
But worse, the careless use of turkey fryers is responsible for over 1,000 fires every Thanksgiving, resulting in serious burn injuries, about 5 deaths and over $15 million in property damage. If you or someone you know is planning on frying a turkey we suggest you take a good look at this video from the National Fire Protection Association. Then either choose to roast your turkey or take ALL precautions to proceed safely outdoors and away from all structures. Have a safe, Happy Thanksgiving.
